Jeff
Corwin - Biography
Jeff Corwin was born on July 11, 1967, in Norwell, Massachusetts,
and became a lover of animals at an early age. His
first experience in conservation came in 1984, when he
traveled to the rainforests of Belize. 10 years
later, he returned to South America on the JASON
project, and also helped to make a historical
documentary movie called "JAGUAR TRAX,"
which was filmed in Costa Rica.
The
"experience" Jeff had in Belize helped fuel
his interest in the study and conservation of tropical
rainforests, whereby he soon became an activist working
to protect the threatened rainforests of Central and
South America. The Emerald Canopy Rainforest
Foundation became a reality as a result of his
efforts, an organization dedicated to protecting
rainforests by means of educational outreach.
From
1997-1999, Jeff hosted the popular TV series, "Going
Wild with Jeff Corwin," aired on the Disney
Channel. His humor and wit combined with his
knowledge of zoology and biology made and continue to
make Jeff Corwin an enjoyment to watch.
Academically,
Jeff has a Bachelor of Science degrees in both Biology
and Anthropology from Bridgewater State College, and
through the department of Natural Resource Conservation
at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, he is
completing his graduate work on Central American
bats. Do such accomplishments, however, always
give an individual the correct theories and perspectives
of science? Unfortunately, no.
Shortly
after Disney's "Going Wild with Jeff Corwin"
was canceled, "The Jeff Corwin Experience"
on Animal Planet took up the reigns and brought back the
Jeff so many had been longing for. With its first debut
on December 3rd, 2000, the show was titled, "A
Wild Man in Borneo," and since then the "Experience"
has become one of the most popular animal programs on
television. It's
difficult not to like Jeff Corwin. His shows are
great entertainment that provide both children and
adults the chance to get up close to some of the world's
rarest animal species. It doesn't take long,
however, to realize that Jeff Corwin is an
evolutionist. This shouldn't come as a surprise,
as anyone who has his or her own show on national
television would, indeed, have to be one. By
clicking "Evaluations" on the menu bar,
see for yourself whether the thoughts and ideas espoused
by Jeff Corwin are of merit. We love Jeff, but his
views regarding evolutionary change and the origin of
species hold little ground, and ultimately are both
dangerous and a determinate to science.
